Summer Vacation 2006

Summer 2007

During the 2007 summer, I didn't take a vacation. I taught Keyboarding during summer school and had hardwood floors, new carpeting and new kitchen appliances added to my house!

After all those updates, I didn't have any money left to take
classes or travel.

Summer Vacation 2008

Summer 2009

2009 was all about classes, vacation, family and friends! Before school was out, my friends from Germany and Kansas were visiting. I took several classes on Office 2007 and Dreamweaver (web design program) throughout the summer. I also went to Naples, FL with a friend from college for 5 days in June (between classes). Ms. Collins (a teacher at the Freshman Center) and I went to Pennsylvannia for a week. Took more classes... My parents came to visit and stay for a few days. Took more classes...

Summer 2010

During the summer of 2010, I didn't travel much this past summer or see much of family, but I did go to Maine with my friend and attended a Secondary Reading Conference there.

I have been very bad about getting pictures organized and posted--I haven't even made photo albums yet. During the summer of 2011, I spent most of it in Europe. Ms. Collins and I spent 10 days in just the Highlands of Scotland. I think our favorite times were the Isle of Skye and driving to the farthest northern point of Scotland. We were there at the end of June and because it's so far north, we had daylight until after midnight each day. Very cool. We then went to Germany and stayed with friends and then wandered through Germany to the Alps. Lovely summer. I have great pictures--just haven't gotten them loaded up here yet.

The summer of 2012 was about traveling in the United States. A college friend, Ms. Collins, her husband and I went to New York for a week. Again, I have pictures--some really great shots from a city tour and boat ride, but haven't loaded them yet. Went to Broadway, walked around Harlem, Midtown, Central Park, and ate great food while there. Also went to Seattle for a college reunion with friends and then we went to Olympia National Park for a week. We stayed in cabins--too old to be camping and taking cold showers anymore. We had sunshine, rain, and snow!

The summer of 2013 I stayed at home and played hostess to friends from all over the country and world. My little B&B was quite busy. I spent time between friends and family visits writing curriculum for the new school year. I enjoyed seeing Chicago during the summer, going to all the tourist places, taking boat rides, seeing plays and just remembering why I really like Chicago and call it home.
