The outsole of the Nike Mercurial Superfly FG Boot will be made from a full length carbon fiber to work naturally with the foot, while the TPU studs are designed to maximize agility and traction. The SG version of the Nike Mercurial Superfly Boot will feature srew-in studs to provide perfect traction on soft grounds.
The NikeSkin upper is designed for a dynamic fit and perfect ball touch with a lightweight concept including a minimal design. The Flywire technology is used on the upper to offer maximize support. The Nike Mercurial Superfly comes also with the Nike FlyKnit technology.
The likely most eye-catching part of the Nike Superfly 2014 Boot is the included sockliner, which is made from textile top cloth to mirror the natural foot shape. Something similar could be seen on American Football cleats before and will change the design of football boots forever.
Trevor Edwards, President of the Nike Brand:
"Innovating for the game's best is the very soul of Nike. It is the fundamental pillar of who we are and as players get faster and stronger, we challenge ourselves to keep improving - because sport is about constant progression - and so is the Nike brand.
"Today is the culmination of that journey as we head toward Brasil. It's a journey of innovation fueled by our deep-rooted passion for the game. Like the players we design for, when it comes to the World Cup we hold nothing back. Because when the eyes of the world are upon you, you have to bring your best. At Nike, we live for these moments; it's what we do. We know the dreams of entire nations rest on our athletes' shoulders, so we ensure they have what they need to succeed. Every day we challenge ourselves to live up to their ambition. They choose brilliance. And so do we."
